03 · Who they are

What this house holds, and what it wants.

The gate that still opens

Nine hundred years ago there were eleven gates in the wall. Ten were filled with rubble and ice. Varrow Hold kept the last one, and the key on their banner is not a metaphor: the Warden of the Gate wears it on a chain and sleeps with it.

Varrow soldiers are the first to see anything that comes out of the north, and the first to be blamed when something gets through.

What they want

Order, quiet and a full granary. Varrow has never started a war on the wall. It has ended three.
