Chapter III · The Fire-Tenders
03 · Who they are
What this house holds, and what it wants.
The beacon line
Every four miles along the top of the wall there is an iron brazier, and every brazier has a Brannoch keeper. A lit beacon means one thing: the wall is under attack.
No beacon has been lit in living memory. In the first chapter, one of them is lit from the sky.
What they want
To be proven right. Brannoch has been warning the other houses about fire for two hundred years.
04 · Told from this house
Chapters from their point of view.

02
Fire on the parapet
For nine hundred years the beacons were a formality. Tonight the fire comes from above.

07
The low flyer
It passes so close to the snowfield that the drifts melt in a line behind it.
Every house gets more chapters in book two.
